Pentagrammic wards[1] (also spelled pentagramatic wards)[2a] a type of ward are specifically against Daemons and the corrupt energies they wield. Alongside Hexagrammic wards, they have been in used since the Dark Age of Technology. While the more widely known and utilised hexagrammic wards shield against general warp-based psychic energies, pentagrammic are more specialised against malefic forces.[1]

Overview

Creating wards takes time and knowledge. Ritual materials such as sacred inks, blood, silver dust, and so on are used in junction with knowledge on the forbidden lore of Daemonology. They emit forces of Malediction that are antithetical to warp based objects and creatures. With the correct occult formulae, wards create barriers difficult for daemonic entities to breach and can be inscribed upon areas, objects, or even people.[2a] Alongside hexagrammic wards, these are used heavily on Black Ships. Pentagrammic wards can be used to reinforce hexagrammic wards, sometimes being etched with in one's blood.[1]

Knowledge of pentagrammic wards is under the sole purview of the Ordo Malleus. This knowledge is banned elsewhere due to the fact that these pentagramatic wards can be easily altered to aid a sorcerer or witch in controlling and enslaving rather than simply containing or defending. This tool has lead to many in the Inquisition down the path of Radicalism.[2a]

These wards are often used to provide a degree of safety when summoning a demon to strike a bargain or pact with. Daemon-binding rituals and other sorcerous rites require these wards to enslave malefic entities, such as daemonhosts.[2b]
