Phoenicia Jai
Phoenicia Jai was a Genestealer Magus of the Cult of the Wrything Wyrm. She was an extremely powerful psyker, even proving capable of mentally dominating a Space Marine.[1b]
Biography
Jai was a scion of Clan Delve on the Imperial Mining World of Ghyre. When she was born, her parents sensed the psychic potential within her and surrendered her to the Cult's Father.[1b]
After the opening of the Great Rift, Ghyre suffered from a period of civil instability partly brought about by the Wrything Wyrm, who were preparing the planet for the arrival of the Star Children. Suspecting that a heretical cult had arisen on the planet, the Imperial authorities of Ghyre attempted to broadcast an astropathic request for aid as soon as the Warp disturbances caused by the Rift's creation had abated somewhat.[1a] In an attempt to stop the sending, Jai had the cultists hijack the medicae shuttle Dutiful and use it to transport a force of around 100 armed cultists to the astropaths' sanctum.[1b]
The sanctum's guardians were caught off guard by the attack and the cultists were able to easily despatch most of them. However, the sanctum had more protection than Jai anticipated, having been reinforced by an Honour Guard Squad of the Imperial Fists Chapter stationed on Ghyre. Although the Fists were eventually overwhelmed and killed, they were able to delay the cultists long enough for the message to be sent.[1b]

Notes
- At one point in the novel Fist of the Imperium, Jai is referred to by another cultist as "magos".[1b] This is presumably a spelling error (the intended word being magus), as she is not otherwise presented as a member of the Adeptus Mechanicus.
