Psyker Gang
Psyker gangs (sometimes spelled psyker-gang, also called covens) are one of the kind of gangs know to exist on the Hive World of Necromunda.[1]
Overview
As with elsewhere in the Imperium, are psykers on Necromunda persecuted and feared. Folktales of psykers confirm the worst: that they can cause madness with a touch and summon daemons. In turn many psykers, tormented beyond endurance, lash out at their persecutors, using their powers to destroy. Thereby giving truth to the tales in the eyes of their persecutors.[1]
Many psykers who have not fallen victims to their own powers, daemonic possession, or witch-hunting bounty-hunter gangs, and been able to escape into the undercity (or hide in some other way) gather in gangs.[1]
For their own for mutual protection do psyker gangs always making certain to recruit only their own kind, or true sympathisers – most psyker gangs include a few non-psykers. Those non-psykers are often relatives or close friends who have chosen to share the psyker’s exile. But also those who seek arcane powers by association with covens and worshiping Chaos may be found in some psyker gangs.[1]
The psyker gangs practice bizarre occult initiation rites. A sinister occult aspect pervades all gang activity, and some take captives for sacrifice in cult rituals.[1]
Though most lurk in the undercity can psyker gangs be hiding anywhere in the hive, even in the upper hab layers.[1]
They usually use simple weaponry augmented by sophisticated equipment captured, traded or obtained through influential contacts.[1]
Psyker gangs are mainly motivated by survival and the protection and continued secrecy of any cult they may practice. But many psykers are obsessed with revenge against their persecutors, while others secretly try to spread their insidious influence throughout the hive.[1]
The most dangerous psyker gangs are the secret covens of the psyker-cult known as the Immortals.[1][Trivia]
