Sector Mechanicus
The Sectors Mechanicus are vast industrial zones within the hive cities of the Imperium, essential for fueling the Imperial war machine. They are operated by the Adeptus Mechanicus, responsible for supplying the Imperium with weapons, armour, munitions, and spacecraft.[1a]
Overview
These sectors are filled with complex machinery, much of which dates back to the Dark Age of Technology. While the Tech-Priests manage the production of weaponry and other goods, they do not typically allow outsiders into the most critical industrial areas. The machinery in these sectors, whether ancient or newly built, is revered as sacred, and is often maintained through ritualistic ceremonies. Sectors Mechanicus can range in size from an industrial complex within a hive to entire hives filled with miles of interconnected machinery.[1a]
Sectors Mechanicus are prime targets in warfare, as they are vital for fueling the Imperium's war efforts and supplying essential technology. Defending these sectors is a top priority for the Imperium, especially for the Cult Mechanicus, who view their machines as sacred.[1b]
On Necromunda
On the planet Necromunda, Sectors Mechanicus are an environment where gangs clash amid the expansive machinery that fills the vast hive domes from floor to ceiling. Fighters risk falling from narrow gantries or towering structures, either due to enemy attacks or their own reckless actions, such as jumping across gaps or venturing too close to the edges of platforms.[2]
Structures
Sectors Mechanicus are filled with a variety of industrial structures, including manufactorums, forges, foundries, refineries, reactors, and more. Many of these machines are so complex that even the Adeptus Mechanicus priests who maintain them do not fully understand their function. Some structures rise for miles, accessed by rusted gantries and staffed by servitors and low-level workers. The infrastructure is heavy and intricate, with a network of power conduits, promethium relays, and pipes connecting massive plants. The air is thick with pollution from smokestacks and chimneys, while heavy machinery like servohaulers, magtrain lines, and servolifters are scattered throughout the sector.[1a]
