Aurelian Crusades
The Aurelian Crusades were a series of major conflicts fought in Subsector Aurelia in late M41. Subsector Aurelia, as the home system of the Blood Ravens Space Marines Chapter, was vitally important to the Imperium.[1]

The First Aurelian Crusade
While defending planet Calderis from a sudden Ork invasion, the Blood Ravens discovered that the Orks were being stirred up by an Eldar raiding party, in the hopes of blunting the invasion of an approaching Tyranid Hive Fleet. This Hive Fleet was finally defeated on Typhon Primaris.[1]
The Second Aurelian Crusade
Planet Aurelia, which had disappeared into a Warp storm years before, suddenly reappeared, bearing Chaos Space Marines from the Black Legion led by Eliphas the Inheritor, It is during the second Aurelian Crusade in which Captain Gabriel Angelos was declared a heretic, setting off a chain of events that reveal Azariah Kyras was in fact working with chaos and is the true traitor.[2]
The Third Aurelian Crusade
Despite the defeat of Ulkair and the Black Legion, the Sub-Sector was plunged into a 10-year civil war between Blood Ravens loyal to Gabriel Angelos and Blood Ravens corrupted by Azariah Kyras and his Chaos Space Marine allies. With the Sub-Sector in turmoil, Several Cadian Regiments (including the Cadian 8th) arrived on the sector lead by Lord General Castor to restore order, but even with their help it was still not enough for victory. The Ordo Malleus of the Inquisition declared the sector to be destroyed by Exterminatus. The only hope left for the sector to survive was in the hands of Captain Apollo Diomedes as he had to overcome his own pride and save everyone from Exterminatus. Eventually Diomedes defeated Kyras and saved his Chapter from destruction and Gabriel Angelos rose to become the Chapter Master of the Blood Ravens.[3]
