Warhammer Warriors is a turn-based combat game written by Rick Priestley and published by Black Library in 1999.[1]
The game is designed for two or more players and employs 'Warrior books' in place of miniatures and dice.[1] Each book contains the details of a single character, their possible actions and results, as well as a character sheet. The game is designed for two or more players, and as such, two or more books are required to play the game.[2]
Gameplay
The game is divided into turns. Each turn, all of the players choose a single action from their character sheets. Actions are split into Attacking, Moving, Defending or Shooting. Each action a character may take has a page number associated with it. Once all of the players have chosen their action, they simultaneity shout out their action and page number. The players then turn to the relevant page for the actions chosen, which contain a combat grid and results box. These two elements are used to determine the outcome of the action and what the opposing play can and cannot do the following turn. Each character has a set number of wounds. Once a character has been reduced to zero wounds, they are knocked out of the game. The last remaining player wins.[1]
Warrior books
Six Warrior books were published in the series, with the first two - Kal Jerico and Captain Leonatos - released in September 1999.[1] The following two books, Kharn the Betrayer and Ephrael Stern were released in November 1999 [3], and the final two books in the series, Eldar Exarch and Tyranid Warrior were released in December 1999.[4]
