A hero of the [[Great Crusade]] who worked directly under [[Roboute Guilliman]] on at least six separate occasions, Cladius worked as a [[Field Police]] to ensure order amongst his [[Legion]] and their allies such as the [[World Eaters|War Hounds]]. However upon the eruption of the [[Horus Heresy]] and the [[Battle of Calth|Betrayal at Calth]], Hiero assumed the title of [[Overseer]] and was forced to transition into a new darker role as wide swathes of baseline [[Human]]s were conscripted to aid the war effort. Outside of maintaining discipline in battle he also was ever watchful for signs of dissent or traitorious corruption amongst the ranks of the loyalists. He was given authority to make judgement and enact any punishment he deemed fit for such offenses.{{Fn|1}}
