'''Shadows''', also known as '''Shadow-Ghouls''' or sometimes '''Shade-Daemons'''{{Fn|2}}, are the varieties of supernatural terrors within the [[Commorragh|Commorite]] sub-realm of [[Aelindrach]] after the great calamity which befell the realm.{{Fn|1}} They whisper to each other and are often hostile, coiling up legs, ending sight, and suffocating those who step into their ice-cold reach. It is rumoured that somewhere within Aelindrach is a portal to a world in which such creatures reside that can freeze souls by touch.{{Fn|1}} 

The shadows have some affinity with the [[Mandrake]]s of Aelindrach, which themselves are rumoured to be of [[Daemon]]ic origin.{{Fn|1}} Harlequins of the [[Masque of the Shattered Mirage]] have been seen fighting beside the Shadow-Ghouls.{{Fn|3}}

*Hissing things with eyes of burning silver.{{Fn|1}}
*Veils of ever-thickening shadow.{{Fn|1}}
*Dark tendrils within plunging ice-cold lakes.{{Fn|1}}

*Cold Shadows which flood and drown in [[Balefire]].{{Fn|1}}
*Batlike shadows which descend from etched cliffs.{{Fn|4b}}
