Biography
A Sergeant within the elite Huscarls guard of Rogal Dorn, Kestros faithfully served Archamus. When Archamus was killed by Alpharius during the Battle of Pluto, Kestros became the new commander of the Huscarls. He thereafter took on the name of Archamus in memory of his commander.[2]
Kestros, as Archamus, next appeared questioning Vulkan when the Primarch emerged from the Webway on Terra.[2] He was at Dorn's side throughout the final phase of the Solar War, leading his Huscarls into battle against the Daemons of Samus aboard the Phalanx.[3] He continued to serve his role during the Siege of Terra, overseeing operations in Dorn's Grand Borealis command center in the Bhab Bastion.[4]
Following the fall of the Bhab Bastion to Traitor forces and Dorn's departure alongside the Emperor in the assault on the Vengeful Spirit, Archamus was named the commander of the remaining loyalist forces on Terra.[6] He oversaw a desperate last stand at the Palatine Bastion when they hear the prayer chanting of Actae which offers some hope to their situation.[7]
Upon the death of Horus and the arrival of Roboute Guilliman's relief fleet, Archamus had isolated in one of the last remaining loyalist pockets in the Palace been fighting in an exhausted and frenzied state. Shell-shocked and having already gone without sleep for weeks, he immediately collapsed where he stood when the battle was over. Upon his rediscovery by Ultramarines he was initially mute, and then had become confused and introduced himself as Kestros before regaining his composure and using his newer name and title of Supreme Commander of all Terran forces. The newly arrived Ultramarines did not initially believe the battered warrior when he made the pronouncement.[8a] He reunited with Dorn shortly after, who ordered him to act as his emissary in organising an immediate vengeful pursuit of Traitors fleeing the Sol System instead of taking the more cautious consolidation approach urged by Guilliman. He then met with Kyril Sindermann, Aphone Ire, Corswain, and Bjorn in an attempt to organise such an effort.[8b][8c]
Archamus then managed to requisition troops and system runners from the Phalanx and made for the wider Sol System to investigate the remaining traitor presence.[8d] At Jupiter he encountered Sigismund, who was engaged in his own solitary crusade of vengeance against the Traitors.[8e] At Neptune's moon of Laomedeia they discovered signs of a remaining bastion of traitors, but by the time troops arrived under the direct command of Dorn, Lion El'Jonson and Leman Russ the moon had been razed and the earth flattened to the texture of plasteel.[8f]
