Balat is a Scout-Sergeant with nearly four centuries of service behind him. Rumours are that Balat once declined a promotion to become Master of the Watch back on Chogoris. Instead, he had asked to remain a simple Sergeant and be transferred to the 10th Company, so he could pass on his skills to new generations of White Scars scouts. During the liberation of the planet Tephra VII, Balat led squads of scouts as they assisted in the White Scars assault on the Ignis Mons complex.[1]
