Background
The only official Imperial record that lists the Sons of Antaeus is the "Chronicles of the Third Inter-Guild War" of the Inca Sector in 850-901.M41. Captain Rakman of the Subjugators chapter reported that the Sons of Antaeus showed up unexpectedly and opened a 2nd front forcing the Eldar pirates to attempt to redeploy. This resulted in the destruction of the Eldar raiding force.[1]
Since then the Sons of Antaeus have been sighted on many missions around the galaxy by many reputable Imperial Forces.
Gene-Seed
Much like other chapters, such as the Space Wolves and Black Dragons a mutation within the chapters gene seed has provided them with unforeseen benefits in combat. Marines within the chapter are capable of withstanding damage that would kill any normal Space Marine, with their endurance being compared to that of the Death Guards Plague Marines.
Inspiration
As with many other Space Marine chapters, the Sons of Antaeus are inspired by cultural aspects of certain societies, The Sons of Antaeus are inspired by the Greek/Berber mythological figure of Antaeus, an incredibly strong and near invincible character descended from Gods.[Needs Citation]
The obvious links with Herculean mythology could hint at a link between the Sons of Antaeus and the Ultramarines chapter, but there is no official evidence to back up this assumption.[Needs Citation]
