The Airbursting Fragmentation Projector is an experimental Tau weapon, currently undergoing field tests. It launches a number of fragmentation munitions to cover a set area. The munitions contain a rudimentary AI (artificial intelligence), similar but less sophisticated than that in Drones, that calculate the precise height and distance from the other munitions to provide maximum effect.
Due to the size of the weapon, it can only be carried by Crisis Battlesuits. Currently, it is only provided to Tau Commanders and Crisis Battlesuit Bodyguard units.
