The effects of disintegration weaponry on a Space Marine.[6]

Disintegration Weapons can reduce a target to atoms in the blink of an eye.[2]

Those of human origin are relics of the Dark Age of Technology. Highly dangerous, few remain in Imperial use and the ones that do are revered beyond measure.[1] These brutal weapons disrupt the molecular bonding of the target, literally tearing it apart whether it be flesh or ceramite. Common during the dark years of Old Night, these weapons were valued as much for the psychological impact of their use as for the efficacy of their actinic bolts.[2]

Trivia

While the exact mechanism of either disintegration weapons or Eradication Beamers are not explained, there is strong evidence of latter being the former. Both weapons are described as being "beams of energy", "severing the (internal/molecular) bonds of matter", and "reducing a target to atoms". Thus is it is very likely the Eradication Beamer is a disintegration weapon, if in function at the least.[1][3][4]
