The Codicium Aeternum is an Imperial tome in which the Inquisition attempted to record a full and faithful account of the Daemons that the Grey Knights and the Inquisition have banished, as well as extrapolations of their return. It contains hundreds of daemonic names, including Angron, Cherubael, Doombreed, Ghargatuloth and N'Kari, with the dates and predicted durations of their banishments noted beside.[1c]
The Codicium was assumed lost for decades in the libraries on Tethys. It had been in truth stolen by rogue Inquisitor Gholic Ren-Sar Valinov. It was confiscated after he was taken into custody. The Codicium led Inquisitor Ligeia and Justicar Alaric to the Trail of Saint Evisser to hunt the Daemon Ghargatuloth.[1a]
After the destruction of Ghargatuloth, Inquisitor Nyxos returned the Codicium to the Ordo Malleus's fortress in the Sol system, carefully updating it to include the True Name of Ghargatuloth and the date of his projected return.[1b]
