The Historical Revision Unit was a department of the Administratum,[1] whose main employees were the servants known as Historitors who worked within the Imperial Palace. Their job was to revise subversive records of history to a more reverent version.[3] These Imperial scholars chronicled, catalogued and espoused sanctioned history.[5a] Historicus was the title of the unit's head.[1]

The Historical Revision Unit also operated during significant events like the 13th Black Crusade, disseminating news of Imperial battlefield successes to frontline guardsmen alongside the Commission for Moral Truth.[4]

Roboute Guilliman intended to replace the Historical Revision Unit with the Logos Historica Verita, to form a more reliable Imperial history-keeping system. Members of the Logos Historica Verita were also called Historitors.[6]
