Markus Castus is an Ultramarines Primaris Lieutenant , who is considered a hero of his Chapter.[1b]
History
Driven by both a sense of duty and inflexible moral compass, Castus has become renowned as the victor of Varogan, savior of Gathor's Landing and the slayer of Lord Kharag the Bloody. The Lieutenant also upholds the higher ideals eschewed by callous Imperial rulers and always seeks to do the right and just thing for Humanity[1b]. Unfortunately, his deeds drew the attention of the Necron Overlord Trazyn the Infinite and led the Xenos to kidnap Castus. He was then placed in an arena within the Overlord's hidden Sanctum, which is connected to the Tomb World Solemnace, via Reality-Tethers. Castus was not the only renowned warrior Trazyn had placed there and he soon faced the Blood Angel Rafelo, the Death Guard Refulgus Grue and the Necron Teknoth. They were all brought there to fight for Trazyn's enjoyment, but the Overlord promised the victor would be freed from their imprisonment[1a]. Upon hearing this, Castus decided he would do whatever it took to return to the Ultramarines and warn them of what the Overlord had done. Even if that meant he would have to take the life of a fellow Space Marine, now matter how repugnant the deed would be[1b]. However unbeknownst to Castus and the other warriors, Trazyn has no intention of freeing the arena winner. Instead the victor will have the honour of taking a place of pride within the Overlord's latest exhibit on Solemnace.[1a]
