Commerce Protection Fleets are used in the T'au Empire to "protect" their commerce, but the fleets mostly act as legal privateers.[1a]

They do so by attacking, crippling and claiming bounties from any non-T'au aligned spacecraft, that enter areas the empire controls. This has made the Fleets the scourge of the Eastern Fringe,[1a] despite many of their members genuinely believing they are protecting their Empire's trading rights.[1b]
