Grav-Attack Tank

Grav-Attack Tank

The Grav-Attack Tank[1] is a grav-tank used by Imperial forces, most notably by the Adeptus Astartes.[2]

Description

A standard, if less streamlined, Imperial design based upon Eldar vehicles,[3] Grav-Attacks are produced by the Adeptus Mechanicus in their weapon-shops on Terra and other worlds throughout the galaxy. Some of these are modified for use by Space Marine Chapters, though most Astartes Grav-Attacks are manufactured by the Space Marines themselves. Grav-Attacks can also be produced in support variants, troop carrier variants,[2] assault variants, medical variants or communication variants.[3]

The Grav-Attack is kept afloat through use of a standard gravitic-reaction motor that includes gravitational counter-thrust engines and suspensors. The vehicle is capable of high speeds with the help of a single jet engine, especially when travelling on roads and other equally flat surfaces.[2] Upon such suitable worlds, the Grav-Attack replaces the Land Raider in its battlefield role.[3]

Armour material can consist of a variety of materials, depending on local availability, but ideally should include a ceramite core, upon which cellular layers of plastics and an outer coating of silicate sit.[2]

The Grav-Attack is capable of mounting a single Imperial heavy weapon or a combination of lighter armaments, but is most often equipped with a turreted, auto-aimed lascannon and an auto-aimed missile launcher firing frag and krak missiles.[2][4] Otherwise, it can mount an auto-aimed multi-laser in the turret and two forward firing auto-aimed boltguns on a fixed mount.[3] The Grav-Attack also features an auto-drive system, a communicator,[2] a targeter and an energy scanner.[3]
