Seraphicus

Interrogator-Chaplain Seraphicus[1]

Seraphicus is an Interrogator-Chaplain of the Dark Angels. He took part in the Battle for Bane's Landing in M41, fighting alongside Company Master Balthasar,[1]

Biography

In 960.M41 he took part in the Pandorax Campaign. During the campaign Seraphicus took part in the battle on the asteroid Malefus Murex, during which he removed the Gene-seed from the corpses of dead Black Legionaries so they could be brought to The Rock for testing, to confirm if any of The Fallen were among the dead.[2]

After the entire Dark Angels 4th Company was wiped out on the Space Hulk Harbinger of Woe, with the exception of Sergeant Arion, Seraphicus went to see Arion on the Salvation, and offered him a place in the Ravenwing as a Sergeant. Seraphicus commented on the fact that this is the second time Arion has been found as the sole survivor of a battle, speculating that perhaps the Emperor and the Lion had a plan for him.[1c]

In 999.M41[3] Seraphicus was present for the Battle for Bane's Landing. Though instead of going down to the planet, he remained on the Sword of Caliban to interrogate[1a] Kestalev Chyre of the Crimson Slaughter[1b]. After the traitor revealed that he knew Seraphicus' name, and stated that the Dark Angels knew about the Hellfire Stone, Seraphicus left for his quarters to inform Balthasar that the enemy may know more about them, then they know about their enemy.[1a] He later continued the interrogation, and after asking who Kestalev kept talking to, as he seemed to be talking to no one, Kestalev then became possessed by a ghost of Balethu. The ghost then told Seraphicus about how they were slaughtered by the Crimson Sabres, and then attached themselves to the space marines to torment them. It also revealed that the Crimson Slaughter thought the stone would get rid of the Balethu. The ghost then let Kestalev control his body again. After more physical torture Kestalev told Seraphicus that the Balethu were trying to summon a Daemon.[1d] Seraphicus then tried to find out the Daemon's true name, but Kestalev revealed they didn't know it, only that the Daemon is called Haur'esh. When Seraphicus asked what the ritual to summon him was Kestalev died. Seraphicus, acting quickly, broke Kestalev's ribs with his Crozius and then cut open his body with his combat knife, exposing Kestalev's two hearts which were no longer beating. He then activated his Crozius, the electrical power restarting his hearts. Alive again, Kestalev finally revealed that the ritual required a blood sacrifice of a Space Marine. Seraphicus then quickly left the interrogation chamber[1e] and warned Balthasar about the blood sacrafice over Vox.[1f]

After the battle Seraphicus went down to the planet to deal with the dead, commending their souls, as well as retrieving their Gene-seed since they lacked an Apothecary. Balthasar planned to talk with Seraphicus after the battle about Turmiel, and how he might have ostracised himself even more from the rest of the company.[1g]
