The 1st Steel Legion was an Armageddon Steel Legion regiment of the Imperial Guard.^[1]

History

The history of the 1st Steel Legion is murky, and debated by Imperial scholars. There is evidence to suggest that the regiment, under the command of Colonel Jeremiah Mantubb, liberated the world of Minerva in M37 from the Chaos renegades of the Sorcerer Lord Torvel the Deluded. After only a matter of months the 1st Regiment was able to completely overwhelm the heretics, and the war was ended when Commissar Orthos slew Torvel the Deluded.^[1]

The regiment was granted Right of Conquest and settled on the world, with Colonel Mantubb becoming the world's Governor. When the time came for Minerva to raise its own regiments, they seemed to be heavily based on the 1st Armageddon. The truth of this story is debated, but used to explain the similarities between the regiments raised on Minerva and the reigments raised on Armageddon.^[1]
