The 5th Brotherhood of the Grey Knights is known as 'The Preservers'.^[1]

The 5th is responsible for training the Grey Knights' Apothecaries and overseeing the management and preservation of precious gene-seed. The Grand Master of the 5th is Chief Apothecary of the Chapter as well as Protector of the Sanctum Sanctorum. The 5th are also the managers of the Grey Knights' Dreadnoughts.^[2]

M42: Half of the Brotherhood are dispatched to battle the taint of Tra'mawt'ha the Voidmaw. The remainder under Grandmaster Morvans are following a desperate series of visions as they try to reach the Nachmund Gauntlet in time.^[5]
M42: The Season of Blood. The 5th Brotherhood is dispatched to Armageddon to prevent its fall by a massive Khornate horde under the returned Daemon Primarch Angron. At the climax of the battle 5th Brotherhood Grand Master Rothwyr Morvan sacrifices himself to push Angron back through the Red Angel's Gate just as it is sealed.^[6b]
