The Absolvers are a Space Marine Chapter[1] known to be enigmatic and dour.[2]

History

Origins

Though the Absolvers are a Successor Chapter of the Blood Angels geneseed,[6c] Absolvers themselves never share this information with other organisations of the Imperium.[6d] Very often, even the Absolvers' aspirants do not know which Primarch's gene-seed they have.[6c] This has led to organisations outside the Chapter often speculating as to who exactly the Progenitor of the Absolvers is, suggesting the Ultramarines (since the Absolvers strictly adhere to the Codex Astartes)[6e], the Raven Guard, the Space Wolves or even the White Scars.[6d]

The Absolvers themselves hide their origin not because they are ashamed of Sanguinius (because they believe that he was a mightiest hero of mankind), but on the contrary - believing that they are unworthy to be called his sons, and that only through a long and painstaking process of absolution will they be able to reveal this knowledge to the whole world.[6c]

History

Created sometime in the M34 by the mysterious Tygranas Dalir - their first Chapter Master - the Absolvers have fought for the Imperium for a long time.[6a]

In the Age of the Dark Imperium, the Absolvers became trapped within the Gilead System, due to the creation of the Great Rift. Now beset on all sides by Daemons, opportunistic Xenos, wary allies, and rebellious citizens, the Chapter fights to defend Gilead and its citizens. Though their recruitment of Aspirants has skyrocketed, the Absolvers are spread thin and many have been allowed to operate individually, lending their strength to covert operations. Each knows that being cut off from the vast war machine of the Imperium, they must savour every bolt round and they may have to sacrifice the few to save the many. With the dire predicament facing them, the Absolvers now rely on their faith to shield them more than ever before.[2]
