Amfell Shenn
"The fire was stoked. We now burn brighter than ever."
Amfell Shenn, the Saturnine Flame, was a Saturnine Terminator Praetor who took part in the Great Crusade and Horus Heresy.[1]
History
In the wake of the Dropsite Massacre, Shenn sought to endure the Salamanders' shattering, and to sear the Traitors from the galaxy. However, the Praetor's wounds ran deep and he was wracked with fury for what had befallen his Legion. His quest became driven by vengeance, as a result of this, and he was willing to sacrifice anything to obtain it. This lasted, until Sheen returned to the Salamanders' Homeworld, Nocturne, in order to rally his battle brothers for a campaign of retribution against the Traitors. However, the Praetor's attitude changed, as he stood before the flames of a Promethean Cult ritual pyre.[1]
Its fires rekindled the teachings of their lost Primarch, Vulkan, within Shenn and he began working within his Legion's forge afterwards. Each strike of the Praetor's hammer not only tempered the steel he worked on, but also his rage. It was soon turned into resolve and Shenn vowed that if he was to carry on Vulkan's legacy, then his war against the Traitors would be driven by justice and not vengeance. With his path now set, Shenn offered to volunteer himself to further test the experimental Saturnine Power Armour in battle.[1]
After becoming a Saturnine Praetor, he then mustered the Salamanders in order to turn the oath breaking Traitors to ashes. As his Legion sought to right the wrongs committed against them, Shenn always stood in the front lines of the Salamanders' battle. He was ruthless against their foes, but the Saturnine Praetor also became a beacon for the scattered members of his Legion. In doing so, Shenn became a reminder that a flame burns the brightest, when it is the darkest.[1]
