Angstrom, officially Angstrom II, is a minor Forge World[2] of the Imperium.

Overview

Angstrom's primary function, other than as a functional Forge World, is as an Explorator supply base and a watchtower focussed on the Maelstrom itself. It is known for the manufacture of advanced weaponry production and of particular rare refined metals and ores collected from the wider Maelstrom Zone. These manufactured products are shipped both every decade to Forge Worlds elsewhere and, as part of a long-standing agreement, every three years to Imperial military forces in the region, most notably to the Maelstrom Warders.[1a][1b] Despite the latter agreement, Angstrom II's ruling Magos is ferociously independent of the Imperium and will not hesitate to use the planet's considerable military strength to annihilate anyone or anything foolish enough to enter unauthorised into Angstrom's inner system.[1b]

The Forge World is home to at least fourteen Titans of the Legio Crucius and acknowledges loyalty to Ryza and its masters.[2b]

Involvement in the Badab War

At the outset of the Badab War, the Magos of Angstrom considered the nascent conflict in the Maelstrom Zone to be an "internal dispute" and remained steadfastly neutral, categorically rejecting both diplomatic missions and threats from both sides. The Forge World continued its operations as normal, which included the habitual delivery of advanced arms and refined metals. Due to Lugft Huron's forces controlling the surrounding area and the Magos of Angstrom caring nothing about which Imperial servants collected these shipments, this vital source of supplies was secured for the Tyrant's own forces. As the war escalated across the region, in 908.M41, Adeptus Astartes drawn from the Red Scorpions and Salamanders Chapters were tasked with severing this supply line in an operation that later became known as the Angstrom Incident.[1a]

Full-blown conflict between Angstrom and the Loyalists was averted thanks to the direct intervention of Legate-Inquisitor Jarndyce Frain and a line of communication remained open between the two parties, which allowed secret negotiations to occur. In 912.M41 Angstrom's aid to the Loyalist cause was confirmed, though what price was paid for this assistance has not yet been fully disclosed.[2a] The aid granted to the Loyalists took two forms: firstly, a shipment of arms and munitions,[2a] and secondly, once the Siege of Badab was underway, the deployment of Legio Crucius Titans to crush the heavy defence points in Badab Primaris' hive cities and industrial areas.[2b]
