Archus is a planet in the Gerio Sector, under Imperial control. It was considered a strategic location in the Gerio Sector, because stable Warp currents flow around it.[1]

History
In M36, a sizeable warband of Word Bearers attacked Archus, intending to use the warp currents around the planet to power a summoning ritual. They began by inciting rebellion in the hive cities, and carved massive runes into the plains.[1]
Six weeks after the traitor invasion, an Ultramarines 6th Company force arrived to reclaim the planet for the Imperium. The Ultramarines utilised an armoured assault force, and despite 70% loyalist casualties in the ensuing uphill battle, the Word Bearers were defeated.[1]
The battle was later commemorated by the Ultramarines by being recorded on the 6th Company's banner.[1]
Geography
Archus houses a few Hive Cities and large, open plains.[1]
