Captain Ardias's personal heraldry depicts a sword overlaid with the Ultima, within a golden wreath on a background of red. The shoulder pad which Ardias's heraldry is painted on has the trim and background colours inverted; the trim is blue and the interior red.[7]
Ardias often wears his heraldry on his left shoulder pad rather than his right.[7]
Wargear
Ardias wielded a Combi-Weapon and Power Fist.[7]
Biography
Ardias led the 3rd Company against the Tau who had come to rescue a captured Ethereal on Dolumar IV, but later negotiated a ceasefire with them when it was revealed that Governor Severus had aligned himself with Tarkh'ax and the Word Bearers.[1a]
Ardias forced an override in the communications of a Tau Fire Warrior named La'Kais and guided him against the Word Bearers and subsequently helped Kais by holding off Tarkh'ax until Kais destroyed the daemon.[1b]
To honour a battle honour won by his company in the First Tyrannic War, fighting Hive Fleet Behemoth, Captain Ardias worked his company colours into his personal heraldry, setting a tradition for future Captains such as Mikael Fabian.[2][6]
He also commanded Strike Force Ardias as part of the Joran VI Retaliation Force during the Joran Retribution[3][6] in 745.M41,[5] where Ultramarines fought against the T'au Empire[5] and traitor infantry[4a] to save nearly a hundred loyal Astra Militarum Regiments.[6] Ardias’ 3rd Company was deployed from the Strike Cruiser Fist of Ultramar.[4] Despite rescuing millions of soldiers, the 3rd Company suffered massive casualties, and Ardias was killed in the final extraction.[5][6]
Ardias’ successor was Captain Mikael Fabian, who fought alongside Ardias during the Joran Retribution and was recommended to Marneus Calgar for the role by Saul Invictus.[6]
