Arthromite Duneskuttler
Arthromite Duneskuttlers are massive insects that can be found beneath Necromunda's Ash Wastes. The Hive World's population is highly fearful of them.[1]
Description
They are more commonly known as Arthromites and lie in wait for unwitting prey to near them, before bursting out from beneath ash dunes. The insects then attack in a flail of mandibles and scythed limbs and can also bite the head of a Human off. Even vehicles are targeted by Duneskuttlers and anything not killed in the initial attack will be overpowered by their tearing and biting before ultimately being dragged down beneath the wastes. Despite their fearsome reputation, however, Ash Waste Nomads known as Arthromite Herders are able to tame the massive insects. The Duneskuttlers will then often accompany their Herders and can be sent charging at their masters' foes with a gesture of the Herders' polearms. Because of their abilities, Herders and their Duneskuttlers can also be hired to join the Ash Waste Nomads' raiding parties, where the insects are used as shock troops. Once the fighting is done, the Herders are skilled enough to heal any damage the Duneskuttler may have suffered.[1]
According to the Cinderak City Slopper Dun Two-spoons, Duneskuttlers can get anywhere and are infesting the city's sewers. However, he claims the insects are good to eat, provided you can catch one before it eats you first.[1]
