Aster Lydorran
Aster Lydorran is an Imperial Fists Primaris Epistolary, who serves in the Command Squad of Captain Ercuros Tor's Fifth Company.[1a]
History
He was taken by agents of Archmagos Dominus Belisarius Cawl to become a Primaris Space Marine in M36. Lydorran later succeeded in becoming a Geokinesis-styled Primaris Epistolary, descended from the Primarch Rogal Dorn, and was then placed in Stasis beneath Mars, with other Primaris Marines. He would remain there until M42, when the Primaris were unleashed to aid the Imperium, which was embattled due to the creation of the Great Rift. Upon his awakening, Lydorran was sent to join the Command Squad of Captain Ercuros Tor's Fifth Company and subsequently took part in the successful battles against the forces of Chaos on Osmal II and Shondarch. Sometime later, they would answer a dire Astropathic warning that a rebellion had broken out on Ghyre from the Fifth Company Sergeant Larrus Torgan, who had been stationed on the important Mining World[1b]
One year and twenty-six cycles sidereal later, the Fifth Company arrived at Ghyre aboard the Strike Cruiser Wrathful. Upon arriving on its surface, Tor and the Command Squad met with the Mining World's High Marshal Anthonius Kallistus, to begin planning Ghyre's defense. However before any words could be spoken, Lydorran sensed a sudden rush of kinetic energy and raised his psychic defenses to defend against the attack. It would be too late, though, and Captain Tor was slain by a sniper[1a]. In the subsequent mayhem that erupted, Lydorran discovered the sniper and killed her in vengeance for Tor's death, before she could escape. He would then take command of the Fifth Company, as they did battle with the Genestealer Cult of the Wrything Wyrm, which was revealed to be behind the rebellion on Ghyre and the death of Captain Tor.[1b]
In the ensuing war on Ghyre, Lydorran dismissed concerns by the Ghyrish Ecclesiarchy conclave about excessive collateral damage being caused by the Imperial Fists. The Genestealer Cultists were taking advantage of this to broadcast anti-Space Marine propaganda to bolster their support. Nonetheless, he took a more cautious approach, which led to the frustration of Company Champion Hastur. Hastur led a small team to a warehouse in the commercial district, intending to strike a decisive blow. However instead, his squad walks into a Cultist trap.[1d] Beset by disaster and Ecclesiarchy political machinations, a frustrated Lydorran was nonetheless able to learn from Deathwatch Watch Captain and Space Wolf Lothar Redfang that the Genestealer Patriarch was located beneath Klaratos Hive.[1e]
Lydorran agreed with Redfang that the best approach was to launch a massive attack on Klaratos to draw out the Patriarch. The attack would leave their current base Hive Angelicus, resulting in both agreeing for the need for speed in the coming operation. However as the attack is being launched, Genestealer forces under the Magus Jai attempted to detonate a biological weapon in Angelicus port to draw away Space Marines. Thanks to the sacrifice of Chaplain Storn and a group of Arbites, the plot was foiled.[1f]
Lydorran and Redfang then launch attacks on Klaratos as a recovering Hastur holds off Genestealer attacks on Port Angelicus. Upon hearing of the attack, Lydorran blames Redfang for the disaster and the two came to blows. Ultimately, thanks to Redfang allowing him to be beaten without resistance, Lydorran was able to regain his composure. The two then learned that the Patriarch was likely instead under Hive Mastracha due to the origin of the biological bomb the Cultists attempt to detonate. Using orbital warships to deliver Lance strikes, Hive Mastracha's power generators overload and created a massive explosion. Lydorran and Redfang then descended into the breach deep into the nest of the Genestealer Cult.[1g]
In the final battle deep within the broodnest, Lydorran and the Deathwatch fight through fierce cultist resistance. Lydorran and Redfang then dueled the Patriarch together, killing it and causing the Broodmind of the cult to collapse.[1h] While the war on Ghyre ended in Imperial victory as a result, the cost was high.[1i]
