Athaeus was Captain of the Blood Angels 2nd Company at some point in the early history of the Blood Angels as a Chapter.[1]
History
The time of Athaeus's service as Captain of the 2nd Company isn't entirely clear, but it is known to be after the events of the Horus Heresy. Some say that he was Captain right after the Second Founding, when the Blood Angels Legion was first split into Chapters, while others believe he was Captain much later. Nevertheless, Athaeus is a legendary figure in the history of the Chapter because he was the first Blood Angel to master the Red Thirst. After killing multiple Emperor's Children traitor marines in the throes of the Thirst, Athaeus discovered a strange calm as he realised he could now control the Red Thirst and bend it to his will. Thus, Athaeus was bestowed with the epithet of The Blooded, which has been passed on to the wider Company.[1]
