Atok Abidemi was a member of the Salamanders Space Marine Legion during the Great Crusade and Horus Heresy.[1]

Biography

Following the Battle of Nocturne, Abidemi was among the three Salamanders to discover the reborn Vulkan at Mt. Deathfire alongside Barek Zytos and Igen Gargo. The three were named Vulkan's Draaksward, his traveling companions on his journey through the Webway to Terra. Atok Abidemi, along with Vulkan and the rest of the Draaksward, eventually reached the Imperial Palace on Terra after an arduous journey.[1]

Later during the Siege of Terra Abidemi alongside his two battle-brothers moved to defend the Western Hemispheric region of the Palace walls from an attack by the Thousand Sons. During this time Abidemi began to have visions of a great drake fighting a crimson drake at the volcanoes of Nocturne. In the subsequent battle they were aided by Bodvar Bjarki and his pack of Space Wolves, with Abidemi combining with the Rune Priest to summon both the powers of Fenris and Nocturne to seemingly drive back Magnus the Red. To save them both from overloading with power, Abidemi had to sever their psychic connection by cutting off Bjarki's arm.[2]

Learning from Promeus that their apparent defeat of the Thousand Sons attack had just been a ruse to allow Magnus and an entourage to infiltrate the Palace. The group confronted Magnus and the Thousand Sons before the Golden Throne, and during the battle Zytos died to save Vulkan from the Crimson King. After the battle Abidemi and Gargo alongside Bjarki joined the group of Nathaniel Garro and Garviel Loken.[2a]

Later during the final stages of the Siege, Abidemi stayed by Vulkan's side at the foot of the Golden Throne as the Emperor left it to assault the Vengeful Spirit. As traitor forces begin to pound down the last door into the Throneroom, Abidemi sheds tears as he agrees with Vulkan that the time has come to activate the Talisman of Seven Hammers and deny the enemy the throneworld.[4a] However after hearing the message being broadcast across Terra by Actae that the Emperor still lived and fighting Horus, the activation is averted.[4]

Abidemi survived the Siege, and led a small force of newly arrived Salamanders in the Retaking of Luna during the Scouring.[5]

Wargear

Abidemi wielded the massive Chainsword Draukoros, which once belonged to First Captain Artellus Numeon.[2b]
