Baleen

The Baleen was a type of extinct cetacean from ancient Terra.[1] Now relegated to obscurity and myth, the jaw bones of these Old Earth cetaceans are comparable in size and shape to that of a webway gate.[2]
Some use the term baleen to describe a filter akin to the cetacean's own , it's notable mouth feature and namesake. The baleen of these cetaceans are used to strain ocean waters for krill.[4] Such as when John Grammaticus describes the Mark VII "Aquila Armour" helmet as looking baleen-snouted.[3] Other times, the term baleen might be used to reference the large jaw bone of which said filters are attached.[5]
Baleen-spears are used to hunt orcas on Fenris.[6]
