The Baleful Howl is a pack of the Space Wolf Astartes Chapter. Their symbol is two stylized black fangs both their right shoulder-pad and left knee-pad. They are "Old Wolves" who have seen and endured much and are well-known on Fenris as rabid glory-hunters. As a part of the Blackmane Great Company, they have its Black Wolf symbol on their left shoulder-pad. They believe this symbolizes they are fearsome and hungry for the struggle of war; that they are cunning, deadly and show no mercy.^[1]

While never directly stated in the video game, nothing of the symbols of the pack contradict the heraldry of modern Space Wolves (as shown in the 8e Codex)^[3] aside from using the left knee instead of the right (something shown to be flexible, such as the third intercessor on the top row of page 66). This allows for assumptions about their heraldry. For instance, Ulfar in the game stated that he was a Veteran and Wolf Guard.^[1] The Field of Yellow underneath the black fangs on his shoulder and knee likely symbolises this fact, and that the Baleful Wolf as a whole is a Wolf Guard Pack.^[2]
