The Banner of Refining Flame is a sacred banner that records the most righteous purifications performed by the Grey Knight Chapter. The Paladin or Brotherhood Ancient who bears the Refining Flame can channel the resonance of this glorious past into his psychic attacks and blast his foes to ash in a burst of searing light.^[1a]

Among the many purifications recorded on the Banner of Refining Flame is Brother-Captain Taremar Aurellian's victory over the Daemon known as The Liar.^[1b]
