Barbarossa IV is an Imperial Agri World located in the Segmentum Solar not far from Armageddon.[1]
History
At some point, Barbarossa IV was cleansed by the Black Templars in the name of the Emperor. The Templars established a Chapter citadel in the northern tundra wastes of this planet, where Chapter Expectanten were trained.[1]
For some time, the keep was abandoned by the Black Templars and only caretaker servitors lived there. As a result, the keep was taken by an Ork mob licking their wounds from one of the Armageddon Wars and preparing for another Waaagh!.[3] Due to the actions of a Black Templars Kill-team, the Orks were repelled and the Keep freed of xenos taint.[4]
Geography
Most of Barbarossa IV is quiet and idyllic. The exception to this are the northern wastes, which are inhabited by dangerous plant and animal species.[1]
Flora and Fauna
- Tundra Tangler — A species of tree that inhabit the tundra of the northern wastes. They possess predatory briars and vines that constrict their prey to let the cold kill them. Wasteland Stalkers have natural immunity to their vines.[2]
- Wasteland Stalker — Vicious creatures that inhabit the northern tundra.[2]
Trivia
- The name Barbarossa IV could be inspired by Frederick Barbarossa (Italian for Frederick 'Redbeard'), a Holy Roman Emperor ruling from 1155 to 1190. The World War II Operation Barbarossa is also a possible inspiration which takes its name from the aforementioned Emperor Barbarossa.
