Battle of the Gnawed Reach
The Battle of the Gnawed Reach was a famous battle fought between the Leagues of Votann and Tyranids.[1]
Overview
The battle came in the wake of a Tyranid invasion of the territories of the Greater Thurian League's Kindred Deep-Seven. Forced back by the Tyranids, the Kin began to attempt to evacuate at the Gnawed Reach. However they soon became trapped by a Tyranid fleet and planetary invasion.[1]
As the Kindred faced their doom, it was then that the legendary Kin hero Buri Aegnirssen appeared for the first time. Leading a group of warriors from various Kindred's, Buri roared an unknown war song as he plunged into the Tyranid swarms. At the climax of the battle, he sought out the leader-beast of the Tyranid swarm and threw himself into its maw. Though thought killed, Buri suddenly hacked his way out of the creature's throat in a gush of ichor. The act exemplified the supernatural resilience and ferocity of Buri, and his presence was able to rally the Kin to drive off the orbiting Bio-Ships and slaughter the remaining Tyranids on the surface. Survivors later described him as a manifestation of the Votann's will.[1]
