Battle of the Shadowshrine

The Battle of the Shadowshrine began when a Dark Angels strike force, under Chaplain Asmodai, fought the Dark Eldar in the shrine-city of Gothala.[1]
Disaster struck during the battle when squirming portals of sentient shadow appeared and thousands of Mandrakes emerged from them to attack the Dark Angels. These reinforcements almost allowed the Dark Eldar to overrun Asmodai's strike force, but the Chaplain was able to lead an attack that collapsed the Xenos' portals and ended the nightmarish battle.[1]
