Beacon Psykana
The Beacon Psykana is the name of an artefact held in secret[1b] by the Blood Ravens Space Marine Chapter created by the Great Father Azariah Vidya in M38[1a] which is capable of alerting their Companies to reconvene through the Summoning of the Exodus.[1a] The Beacon is housed within the Sanctorium Arcanum onboard the Litany of Fury, in the custody of their Secret Order of Psykana.[1a]
Overview
Created by Azariah Vidya, this pearlescent device is essential in the ritual known as the Summoning of the Exodus, which allows members of the disparate Blood Ravens to reconvene.[1a] The ritual and the maintenance and use of the beacon was secured by Vidya through a number of highly unusual as well as privileged contracts with the Adeptus Astra Telepathica, and it is possible that the High Lords of Terra have some vested interest in its continuance.[1a] The power weapons of the Secret Order of Psykana, also housed within the Litany of Fury, are capable of serving as a conduit for the Beacon itself giving the chapter's Librarians knowledge of the location of the Litany of Fury should the Summoning of the Exodus be called.[1b]
Like most innovations from the early history of the Blood Ravens, the true purpose had been lost for centuries, with disagreements in the writings of scholars on the subject serving to further obfuscate its goal.[1a] Father Jonas Urelie, who spent four decades researching the history of the Blood Ravens with the Adepta Sororitas of the Order of the Lost Rosetta held theories on the beacon: that although it relayed the signal of the Astronomican it was incapable of boosting the signal to farther reaches of the galaxy (a theory held in esteem before his research) and that by his best estimation it was created by Azariah Vidya to guide the lost 5th Company of Blood Ravens, who had vanished into the Maelstrom near the time of the beacon's construction.[1a]
