Blade of the Seventh Son

The Blade of the Seventh Son is a Celestial Lions and former Black Templars Strike Cruiser that took part in the Third War for Armageddon as well as in the Adeptus Vaelarii's war against the Exilarchy.[1] Flying the colours of the Celestial Lions with a hull of scarred gold, the vessel is fast and has colossal enhanced engines but is too armoured and bulky to be nimble.[2a]

The vessel served the Lions for over a century, eventually becoming the flagship of the Chapter.[2a] Largely cut off from the Imperium proper after the formation of the Great Rift, the Blade serves with the Adeptus Vaelarii - the Sentinels of the Veil - three chapters sworn by sacred oath to defend Elara's Veil.[3]

Following a victory by the Emperor's Spears on Kouris against the Exilarchy, Spears Strike Cruiser the Hex's long-range auspices detected a vessel at the Mandeville Point of Kouris' system. This vessel was the Exilarchy Strike Cruiser Venatrix Candidus, the White Huntress, a well-known outrider and scout of the Exilarchy.[2b] Determined to catch the vessel, the Hex pursued its quarry but a Gellar field failure caused by a psychic mine allowed the Venatrix to board the Spears' ship in the Battle of the Hex. Many were captured before the Venatrix fled, including Space Marine Amadeus Kaias Incarius as well as his Chapter Serfs Anuradha Daaz and Tyberia Volos. The Hex had temporarily foundered but the Blade eventually tracked down the Venatrix and was used to ram the ship, forcing it into real space.[2c] Both the Blade and Hex set upon the vessel. They boarded it, Amadeus and Anuradha were rescued, Prince of the Pure Nar Kezar was captured, and the heretic vessel was scuttled.[2c][2d]

Later the Blade sailed with the Hex while the latter sent an emergency beacon pod into the Straits of Epona and toward the Imperium, carrying a message denouncing an Inquisition ploy against the Adeptus Vaelarii and particularly the Celestial Lions.[2e]
