Bloodlit Crown
The Bloodlit Crown[1b] is a glowing crown, composed of Bloodlight Warp energy and has eight thorny spikes around it.[1a]
History
Wearing the Crown is the greatest honour that Daemons can bestow upon someone and the refusal of this gift, will immediately fill them with rancor and outrage. Near the end of the Horus Heresy's Siege of Terra, the Warmaster Horus Lupercal planned to place the Bloodlit Crown upon the Emperor's head after he had badly wounded his Father during their battle. Doing so would signify Horus' victory over the Emperor and was part of his plan to force his Father to serve as a puppet-regent in the Warmaster's new empire.[1b] However despite Horus' efforts, the Emperor refused to submit to the Warmaster and resisted having the Bloodlit Crown placed upon His head. Instead, the Emperor used the Crown as a weapon and its spikes were strong enough to split open the Warmaster's skull.[1a] Though the corrupted Horus was easily able to repair the damage, seeing this sacrilege use of the Bloodlit Crown caused the Chaos Gods and Daemons watching their fight to begin shrieking. While he was initially angered by this attack, the Warmaster could see this was all part of the Emperor's ploy to get him to lose his temper and kill his Father. But Horus would not allow the Emperor to escape the fate he had planned. Instead the Warmaster mocked the Emperor, by stating he could use the warp to make as many Bloodlit Crowns as it took to finally make his Father submit to him. The Warmaster would never get the chance to do so however, as the Emperor would manage to kill Horus and put an end to his plans.[1c]
