The Brethren of Bone are the largest of House Cawdor's gangs active in the Underhive of Necromunda's Hive Primus.[1a]

History

They are led by the gang lord Coif Coffinail, who House Cawdor's Thane calls upon when he wants something done in the Underhive. Their large size ensures the Thane's will will be carried out, which the Brethren achieved by welcoming anyone into their ranks - with two exceptions. Prospective Juves are expected to display no unnatural abnormalities and test for a suitable level of devotion to the Redemption Cult. These tests can range from converting members of a rival gang, hammering the clan icon to the ceiling of the local dome, or reciting all nine hundred and ninety nine verses of the Litany of the Lost.[2]

The Brethren operate out of the old promethium pipeline outside of Dead End Pass, which is rich source of ancient liquid fuel. Because of this, more than one gang has tried to destroy the Brethren in order to claim the fuel for themselves. However, the Brethren are always able to return and reclaim their home, despite any losses the gang suffered. This could be because of the Brethren's large size or that other Cawdor gangs like using the name to make themselves seem more important.[2]
