Broken Knife was a Captain of the Dark Angels, who assumed the name Gabriel when he joined the Space Marines.[1]

History
After fighting Orks in Segmentum Obscurus, he returned to the recruiting world where Cloud Runner and the other Terminators of the First Company were fighting against a Genestealer Cult that had taken over the world. In memory of the dead, the First Company's Terminator Armours was coloured white.[1]
Broken Knife succeeded Cloud Runner as the captain of the First Company, which was renamed the Deathwing.[1]
Trivia
Although Deathwing (Short Story) stated that it was this episode of the fight with the Genestealers that led to Deathwing painting theire armour in bone color from then on,[1] in the First Founding (Background Book), stated that the armour was painted white when the Dark Angels needed to reconquer a lost recruiting world, and the color change was due to the warriors of the 1st Company being distinguished from the Heretic Astartes who tryed to pose themselves as the Dark Angels.[2]
