Byrrus Alpha is bathed in its sun's deadly radiation, but contains a Forge World beneath its surface and is home to the Legio Confindo.[1]
It was discovered near the edges of the Realm of Ultramar in the early years of the Great Crusade, after an Expeditionary Fleet received a welcoming message from the Forge World while scouting the Byrrus System. After joining the Imperium, the majority of Legio Confindo left to take part in the battles of the Great Crusade, while a small contingent remained to defend the Forge World. When the Horus Heresy began, the Ruinstorm kept Byrrus Alpha isolated from the wider Imperium, but they began receiving fragmented messages that some of its Legio had turned upon their oaths and joined the forces of the traitorous Warmaster Horus. When the Ruinstorm finally ended, the contingent of Legio Confindo on Byrrus Alpha heard reports that their traitorous kin were in the Beta-Garmon cluster and left to confront them.[1]
