Calefaction Pumps are massive Imperial Geoengines used to terraform worlds.[1a]

Description

Their pumps reach down to a world's core in order to draw up heat to its surface. A world will contain many Calefaction Pumps during the process, which form a planetwide network that is designed to magnify the heat drawn into them. In this way, a world's surface will be made suitable for life[1b]. The Calefaction Pumps themselves are as vast as warships and resemble amphora-shaped Hives. On the outside, broad steps lead up to a Calefaction Pump's pair of massive double doors, though cut into the base of these doors are smaller ones. Within the massive Geoengines are numerous cavern-like chambers that hold various forms of machinery and walkways over deep chasms. They have no windows and their ceiling are so high up they disappear within the chambers' darkness. In time, the Calefaction Pumps can be overrun by plant life, which can even grow within the machines themselves. This is what occurred on Regium and what led its Calefaction Pumps to be worshiped as religious sites by the followers of the nature goddess Aureus Nahor.[1a]
