Callus Zane
Callus Zane was the Chief Astropath for the Raven Guard Legion, during the last years of the Great Crusade and the beginning of the Horus Heresy.[1]
History
Unlike most Astropaths, Zane's Soul Binding did not take his sight. Instead, his sense of taste and smell were lost, along with the sense of touch in his left hand. Zane had been serving as the Raven Guard's Chief Astropath for twelve years in the Great Crusade, when he received the message that the Horus Heresy had begun. At that time, Zane was stationed aboard the Legion's flagship, the Shadow of the Emperor, which was among the Raven Guard's forces that were fighting in Thetos-Groton's outer drift. They were led by the Legion's Primarch, Corvus Corax, who Zane personally delivered the message to. Corax then asked Zane to order the Ad Temperesta to confirm that the Isstvan-III Atrocity had occurred. Its crew later did so and also discovered that Warmaster Horus and the Traitor Legions were now on Isstvan V.[1] The Raven Guard then joined the Imperial forces that attacked the world, in order to put an end to the Warmaster's rebellion. However, this had been a trap set by Horus and when the Dropsite Massacre began, the Shadow of the Emperor was destroyed above Isstvan V.[2]
