Candlemas

Candlemas is an Imperial religious holiday, taking place on the eve of a new year. Its celebration could include the lighting of candles for the dead, the reading of religious lessons, and making devotional prayers to the Emperor.^[1]

It was celebrated at least on Chinchare, and Inquisitor Eisenhorn and his retinue would often participate in it. Eisenhorn himself would often use it to remark how many years have passed, in a similar manner to how one might mark the years by remembering past holidays. In one instance, because all the local Ecclesiarchy had been slain, his retinue lead the celebrations in a small town themselves.^[1]

There is a real world holiday called Candlemas. This may simply be coincidence, though it is not impossible some aspects of it or the name may have provided some inspiration.
