Carb-bar

Carb-bars are an Imperial foodstuff made of synthetic hunks of sucrose infused with fat and flavouring. Carb-bars are sometimes included in unusually generous rations issued to Astra Militarum officers.[1]
In cities, these synthetic sucrose slabs might be sold in packs or boxes, containing several carb-bars, or sold individually.[2a] They have a chemical sweetness to them[2b] and are a general source of cheap sustenance that can be eaten hot or cold. They are described as bland but filling.[2c]
