Cephalohydras are ancient and massive tentacled tunneling vehicles that are used by Necromunda's House Delaque.[1]

Description

They are said to look like mechanical beasts whose misshapen spherical shapes are covered in portholes and held aloft by scores of thrashing metal tentacles while on the surface. The Cephalohydras also serve as troop transports, and their Wraith drivers can view the surface through the ghostly green shapes on the vehicles' control panels in front of their rigs.

When it is time to emerge, the other Delaque slide into the Cephalohydras' attack pods, while the Wraiths strap themselves in. The vehicles' emergence from the ground causes the surface near them to explode into the air, and a pillar of ash to appear. The transported Delaque then exit from hatches on the Cephalohydras' bellies or the vehicles' portholes to reach the ground, using suspensor harnesses that are tethered to air jets. After they are done, the Wraiths can move the Cephalohydras across the surface and use the vehicles' tentacles and hooks to grasp or attack anything. Once in their grasp, foes or objects can then be pulled into the Cephalohydras' bellies, where they are ground to scrap.[1]
