An Ironkin Cerebral Unit[2a][3]

Cerebral Units (or CU's) are technological devices created by the Ancestor Cores of the Leagues of Votann. They contain the personalities and "brain" of Ironkin Sentient Robots.[1]

Produced from Ancestor Cores' Forges with full cognitive development and a pre-programmed inclination to pursue a certain niche in their society, Ironkin Cerebral Units then interface with a fabricated body depending on their function (e.g. Steeljack bodies being larger, sturdier, and designed for combat).[3] Each Cerebral Unit is woven with microfield generators that make them very hard to destroy, should an Ironkin's body become too damaged and need to be replaced.[1] These same field generators allow them to even survive without a body for a time.[3]

When an Ironkin is badly damaged or destroyed, the Cerebral Unit can join with their League's Ancestor Core in a manner similar to organic Kin of the Votann.[2a] When dealing with outsiders, Ironkin may activate a mirror or glare filter over their CU, turning the outside of their domed heads reflective, obfuscating their mechanical nature.[4]
