Chaplet Ecclesiasticus
The Chaplet Ecclesiasticus is a devotional item worn by the Sisters of Battle, in the form of an icon of the Ecclesiarchy held by a string of prayer beads.[1b]
Overview
Every member of the Adepta Sororitas carries with her a Chaplet Ecclesiasticus, worn either around her neck or her waist, depending on length and bearer's preference.[1b][2][3]
The Chaplet is combat ready, every bead being made of adamantium[1a]. For most orders, each one represents an act of penitence undertaken by the wearer, or in the case of veteran sisters ten, a hundred, or a thousand such acts per bead depending on experience, as the sisters strive to honour's the Emperor's sacrifice by emulating His example.[1b][2][3] For others each bead is individualized and meant to represent a specific virtue, or cluster of virtues.[5]
The Chaplet can be used as a garotte, and some icons double as a concealed short blade in case of emergency.[3][4]
