Chorda's Folly is a Mining World of the Imperium.[1a]

History

Originally called Chorda, the planet was founded by Alyxander, patriarch of the Rogue Trader House Chorda, in 326.M41. A single mining settlement is on the surface. Once home to more than 70,000, only a few miners independent of the Chorda Dynasty still arrive in the hopes of striking it rich. They soon find out why the planet got its name: only meagre promethium reservoirs and common ore veins exist, unable to generate true profits.[1b]

Once home to 50,000 people, the population has abandoned the planet without a trace.[1a]

Geography

Brownish land masses drift languidly under a thin veil of cloud cover. Oceans appear shallow and dark green in colour. The planet itself is a desolate, dry, and dusty world dominated by rocky land masses and shallow seas filled with brackish water. Small scrub plants cling to the various rocky edifices sheltered from the wind storms that dominate the plains.[1b]

Settlement

Only a single settlement is on the surface. It contains only the bare necessities a mining world needs to survive: a spaceport, refinery, commercia district, enforcer block, militia barracks, manufactorum district, and a bunker-fortress constructed when the first colonists arrived.[1c]
